Radcliffe Round-Up – 07/06/2015

Radcliffe-Round-Up Still no elusive Victor Frankenstein trailer but Dan did manage to get himself papped quite a few times this week so at least there’s something for you this week!

News
– Dan’s upcoming film Young Americans, which reunites him with Dane DeHaan and John Krokidas, is set to start shooting in October this year with locations currently set for New Orleans and Atlanta.
– Dan also filmed a video message for attendees of the Global Family Reunion, an event held this weekend by author A.J. Jacobs.

Pictures
– Dan made an appearance at the opening of The Spoils, a new off-Broadway play written by Jesse Eisenberg and starring his long-term girlfriend Erin Darke. Erin has received praise for her performance, with the New York Times calling her “excellent.”
– Dan was also papped along with Erin, actor Will Arnett (from Arrested Developement) and writer Mark Chappell (who co-wrote A Young Doctor’s Notebook) leading some to believe that a project might be in the works. Arnett and Chappell are currently working together on a new series for Netflix set to air next year. If we hear any more, we’ll let you know!

Social Media
Nylon Magazine hired Dan as a receptionist and filmed it. We’re guessing this might be for Victor Frankenstein promotion later in the year. We’ll let you know when this sure-to-be-hilarious shoot hits the interwebs!
– Dan was spotted by this fan in New York.

Radcliffe Round-Up – 31/05/2015

Radcliffe-Round-Up News has been very thin on the ground this week so forgive this rather weak update, though Dan did pop up on social media a lot this weekend!

News
Paul McGuigan once again teased that the Victor Frankenstein trailer was indeed on the way “soon.” (As soon as we figure out what “soon” means, we’ll let you know!) He tweeted that he was back at Pinewood Studios putting the final mix together for the film over the next couple of weeks.

Social
– Dan was spotted out and about by a few fans in New York on Saturday. It appears he’s discovered a razor because his glorious beard is gone (though we are led to believe it’s because he’s now finished filming Now You See Me 2 and Game Changer). RIP Beard. Oh yeah, here’s the pictures: one, two, three and four (at Matilda on Broadway).

– He was also papped walking with his girlfriend Erin Darke.

Hopefully next week will be a bit more interesting! Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for all the latest as and when it happens.

News
– Rockstar Games, the makers of the Grand Theft Auto games have filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against the BBC for their upcoming drama Game Changer which Dan has been filming in South Africa this month. It’s not clear if this will affect when or if the drama airs, but we’ll keep you posted on any developements.

– Dan updated his Google+ with a picture of him at the summit of Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa!
– Someone spotted Dan riding a bike while filming Game Changer in a very convincing mock-New York in Cape Town.
– This Reddit user posted a picture of his meeting with Dan.
– He was also spotted by this fan, dining in New York.
– An actress/dancer was on News24 in Cape Town, where she spoke about working with Dan on a party scene in Game Changer.

We’ll have more for you next week!

On set pictures of Dan filming Game Changer

Entertainment site Channel 24 has photos and a report on the filming of Game Changer, which is currently shooting in Cape Town (standing in for New York).

Dan, in costume as Rockstar’s CEO Sam Houser, can be seen chatting to crew members on the set of the BBC2 production, which is set to air this coming September.

Channel 24 also reported that Dan was involved in filming a scene where Houser has to elbow his way through a group of people protesting (presumably outside Rockstar Game’s New York HQ). You can read the full report here.

Dan to possibly star in “Grand Theft Auto”

Dan Horns Premiere

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dan is currently in talks to star as Sam Houser in the BBC Films production Grand Theft Auto (a.k.a Gamechanger, a.k.a Rockstar Games), based on the book Jacked: The Outlaw Story of Grand Theft Auto  by David Kushner. Filming is due to start 20th April, from a script written by James Wood, with Owen Harris directing.

Houser, producer and eventually creator of the video game series Grand Theft Auto, found himself targeted by Jack Thompson, a “moral activist” who spent his time attacking companies he deemed to be promoting violence and sex. The film will show how Thompson took on Rockstar Games, determined to bring them down, but was ultimately unable to stop the game achieving the most successful entertainment product launch ever, despite the controversy surrounding the game.

At the moment, it’s not entirely clear whether Grand Theft Auto will be a cinema release or a television production; as of 12th March, it was planned to be a 90 minute BBC 2 drama airing this September to tie in with the BBC Make it Digital initiative, which aims to inspire the next generation to get creative with coding, programming, and technology.

Polygon posted the following synopsis:

Grand Theft Auto (BBC Two)
This special 90-minute drama will tell the story of arguably the greatest British coding success story since Bletchley Park — the triumph of the computer game Grand Theft Auto.

Unlike many coding success stories, Grant Theft Auto was not created in Silicon Valley – it was the brainchild of a bunch of British gaming geniuses who had known each other since their school days. In autumn 2013 its latest iteration —GTA:V — earned $1bn in its first three days, becoming the fastest selling entertainment product in history.

GTA offered gamers the chance to step into a fantasy world where they could behave like criminals, gun down rival gangsters and cops, hijack cars and venture deeper into an imaginary American gangland underworld.

But the violent gameplay coupled with its outstanding success led to fierce opposition: from parents worried about children immersing themselves in such a violent world; from politicians, alarmed at the values it encourages; and above all from moral-campaigners, who have fought passionately to stop it.
Grand Theft Auto tells the story of how the game was conceived and created and the subsequent fallout as various groups objected to its violent gameplay.

Casting for the role of Jack Thompson is currently under-way. We’ll keep you posted!

Dan attends The Jameson Empire Awards 2015 with James McAvoy

Whilst we wait (im)patiently for the Victor Frankenstein trailer, Dan and co-star James McAvoy treated us to a joint appearance at The Jameson Empire Awards 2015, where they presented the award for Best British Film. Judging by the photos, we’re in for a real treat once promotion starts for Victor Frankenstein.

The Empire blog reports:

With such a wealth of British talent in the room, it was no easy task to choose two of Blighty’s finest to present this award. Happily for us, we had access to the combined might of James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe. They’re both stars of stage and screen, they’re both gifted with uncanny powers (at least onscreen) and they’re bringing Frankenstein back to life for us later this year. Your move, America!

“We didn’t know what to say when we stood up here,” says McAvoy, “so I’ll just tell you what Daniel suggested, which is that we stand here and look pretty.” Well, job done on that front, guys.

We’ll update the post as and when video becomes available, but in the meantime, take a look through the photos below.

Dan updates Google+ fans!

Dan recently wrote a message on his Google+ account thanking his fans for getting the page 50 million plus views as well as updating us all on what he’s up to at the moment. Here’s his message in full:

Dear Google+ers: Thank you so much for helping us to near the 50 million mile stone. I’m sorry I have posted much recently but I have just started filming NOW YOU SEE ME: THE SECOND ACT, which has already been a fantastic experience, working with an amazing cast and crew. I’d love to share some pictures but I’m pretty sure that’d get me in trouble with our producers. Suffice to say I’m excited for everyone to see the movie(in 2016!). Thanks again for your continued support! You’re the best (yes, all of you!) – Dan

We will of course keep you updated of any new information about Dan’s role in Now You See Me: The Second Act as soon as we hear anything!
