Besieged by calamity, danger and doubt, Washington’s obsession threatens his health and to drive his family apart until he discovers he has an improbable ally… his charming and shrewd wife Emily.
Info: Announced in January 2014. This film will reunite Dan with Kill Your Darlings producer Christine Vachon. Dan has been attached to this project for quite some time. It was mentioned back in 2009, while performing in Equus on Broadway, that Dan was doing a reading for the film.
You’re slated to play Washington Roebling in a movie about the Brooklyn Bridge, which must be pretty cool for a history buff. When you’re preparing to play an actual person, do you research a lot?
Yeah, absolutely you have to—I would feel weird not doing that. One of the great things about playing someone who is real is that a lot of the work has generally been done for you. The story of the Roeblings and the Brooklyn Bridge—I really hope we to get to tell that story. It’s an amazing American story, and a story about a marriage that was so different from what people expected of a marriage in that time. That’s why I think it’s particularly an important story to tell: Emily [Roebling] for the first half of the script is very much the sort of doting wife in a period film, and then you see her build the bridge. The equality in their marriage and the way they needed each other, and were so open about needing each other, feels very rare—like a story we don’t often hear about in that era. I have kind of fallen in love with New York and so to make something that feels like a love letter to America but also very specific to New York as well, and what New York is to America … I hope it happens. It’ll be great. It’s a fantastic script. Mental Floss, 2014

You Shall Know Our Velocity
Director: Peter Sollett
Writer: Wells Tower
Schedule: Currently unknown. Was originally due to film April 2015.
Synopsis: Will has surprisingly come into a large amount of money, around $40,000. His photograph screwing in a lightbulb has been made a silhouette and is being used as a picture for the company’s lightbulb boxes. He is uncomfortable having this money because of a subplot that bursts into several scenes in the book: Will and Hand’s third friend, Jack, had recently been killed in a car accident, and the two had delusional ambitions to use the money to save his life, but to no avail. Will plans to travel around the world visiting obscure countries and giving away all the money, bit by bit, to people whom they arbitrarily decide are most deserving. According to Hand, they gave to people for the benefit of both parties, as a sacrament with the purpose of restoring a faith in humanity. The two come up with many creative ways of distributing the unwanted money. One plan involves taping money to a donkey in a graph paper pouch that reads “Here I Am Rock You Like A Hurricane”. While on the journey the two friends do many wild and spontaneous things including practicing rolling over cars and jumping from tree to tree while twenty feet in the air. However without a solid set of criteria, or a definitive direction in their plan, this proves surprisingly difficult, and they experience much awkward confusion and moral uncertainty. They often fear being robbed and killed. Will becomes unstable and begins to lose his composure. The plot is both a log of the journey, as well as a look into the mind of the narrator, Will, who often feels isolated, confused, and shy.
Info: Announced in May 2014. UPDATE: 14/02/2015 Was possibly going to film in Sept 2015, current schedule unknown.
